Whether you came to our Gala, or donated, or both, we can’t thank you enough. We hope you came away with the sense that your donation will be well-used, and with a great auction item! The Gala made more than last year’s, and we are so grateful.

A recent book delivery to St. Anne's

A recent book delivery to St. Anne’s

We haven’t left ourselves a lot of time to prepare for our upcoming visit to Kapkemich, but we are so looking forward to it. Five board members have committed their own personal travel budgets to visit. We’re planning meetings with all the St. Anne’s stakeholders: teachers, board members, all students, and FOSA scholars specifically. We will all get a chance to share with students: Ruth with science and home science cooking, Blaise with computer/business classes, Ginger with math, Dan with art, and Cathy with furthering entrepreneurial opportunities. We all do this work to empower our FOSA students to improve their lives and the community.

Did you know that May 10 was National Clean Up Your Room Day in the USA? If you have any of these objects to purge from your home, Envision Kenya/FOSA could use them!

  • A laptop. St. Anne’s still has very few laptops for teacher use, and needs to continue to grow the computer lab for students.
  • A smart phone. A single mom who does a lot for FOSA asked on our last trip if we could bring a phone we don’t need any longer, when we visit again. I am sure there are many other young people among our teachers and alumni who would benefit from donations like this also and our clinic director and social worker can help identify them.
  • A musical instrument. Father Anthony is starting a music school in Nandi Hills, to give young people something productive to do, as well as a skill that could help with stress management, discipline, and confidence. And St. Anne’s has also been building its music program.
  • Sewing tools. The home science program at St. Anne’s is new. It might be more economical to buy these in Kenya rather than trying to pack them in our luggage or ship them, but if you have items we might not be able to purchase over there, we’d be interested!

We’d love to provide more high-quality children’s books to the primary school, and the high school readers love getting new reading material but we already have some items in Ruth’s garage awaiting shipping. The problem is that shipping a good sized box can cost as much as a half-year scholarship for a girl! So if you are inclined to help with this, we would greatly appreciate your donation!

We appreciate your prayers for our safe travels and look forward to sharing our time in Kenya upon our return.
Thank you for your continued support.
